How to treat papillomas

Papillomas on the skin of the eyelids that require treatment

Papillomavirus is the most common virus found in the human body. It can remain latent, i. e. dormant, from several months to several years. Under the influence of certain provoking factors, the virus begins to manifest itself in the form of warts and growths called papillomas on the skin. How to treat papillomas, what are the symptoms of such an infectious disease, is described in more detail in the article.

Features of treatment

Only a specialist should treat human papillomavirus infection. Therapy with folk remedies at home is carried out only with the consent of the attending physician.

According to official data, there are more than 100 types of this disease. Treatment and typical symptoms will be different in each case. It is for this reason that it is extremely difficult to decide on the appropriate therapy method, and the wrong approach can lead to the worsening of the condition and the spread of pathological symptoms throughout the body.

Before starting to treat papillomas on the body, the doctor finds the real reason for the development of the disease.

Only after that, the specialist decides on the most effective method of therapy. Of course, you can find many remedies at the pharmacy counters that will help you get rid of the symptoms of the disease, but some of them may not only be ineffective, but may also aggravate the course of the pathology.

One of these includes acid to burn off infected growths and nitrogen to freeze them, the use of which helps them fall off on their own. There are also special patches that are stuck on the affected area and left on for 2-3 hours. After this period, the area is moistened with water, the patch is peeled off and the wart comes out with it.

Well-known doctors believe that such therapy methods are effective only in eliminating the external manifestations of the disease, HPV still remains in the body and can be activated after a certain period of time. To get rid of the papillomavirus itself, you need to see a doctor. In this case, special antiviral agents are prescribed that can suppress the infection and its accumulation in the body.

So, let's see how to get rid of the external manifestations that characterize the disease, and this:

  • cryodestruction,
  • laser therapy,
  • electrocoagulation,
  • radio wave surgery.

Cryodestruction

The traditional method of treating papillomas in men and women is cryodestruction, that is, the use of liquid nitrogen applied to the wart, thereby freezing it. Immediately after application, there is a burning sensation, which disappears after a short time. Despite this concern, the procedure helps to necrotize the growth tissue, after which it dies. This allows new healthy tissue to grow in the area.

Cryodestruction - targeted removal of papillomas using liquid nitrogen

When liquid nitrogen is applied to a skin tumor, it cannot affect the surrounding healthy tissue.

The advantage is that there is no risk of bleeding, because the arterial and venous arteries localized in this section are blocked during the freezing process. The area treated with liquid nitrogen heals very quickly. No traces remain on it, because such a tool does not change tissues. In some cases, only a noticeable scar remains, but this is extremely rare. In most cases, the skin is smooth and clean after this procedure.

This method of treating papillomas in women and men is practically painless, except for a slight burning sensation immediately after applying the product.

Laser removal

Some doctors do not think about how to treat papilloma in this or that person, they immediately prescribe laser therapy. During the treatment, low-intensity rays are used, which helps to achieve the following results:

  • stimulation of normal blood circulation in the affected area;
  • improvement of tissue nutrition;
  • activation of self-healing processes.

All these processes together contribute to the quick healing of the treated surface. There are 2 stages in the treatment of the symptoms of the disease:

  • Growth arrest.
  • Coagulation (clogging of blood vessels and affected cells).

It is the second stage of therapy, which excludes the development of any inflammatory process in the area of laser exposure and tissue scarring. As a rule, after the removal of a tumor with a diameter of no more than 5 mm, such a scar does not remain. After getting rid of larger growths, you can observe the appearance of invisible spots that have a whitish color.

The advantage of laser therapy is to eliminate the possibility of affecting the surrounding healthy tissues, thereby reducing the risk of infection. Another advantage of the treatment is the ability to control the depth of laser exposure during the procedure. Target only the changed tissue, ie the area where the wart has crusted over and fallen off.

Taking into account the accuracy of the effect of laser rays, we can conclude that papillomas can be treated with this method even in the genital area, and the risk of complications in the postoperative period is eliminated. As for the disadvantages of laser therapy, they include a side effect - burning, which disappears on its own over time.

Electrocoagulation

You can treat growths in any area (papillomas on the neck, armpits, etc. ) using electrocoagulation - a method that involves the use of electric current to burn the changed tissue. The current comes from a special device - the main tool involved in the procedure.

Electrocoagulation procedure for effective removal of papillomas

Electrocoagulation is a cheap pleasure, which makes the therapy possible for every average person.

The total duration of one session does not exceed 15 minutes. If the growth is small, there is no need for repeated treatment. Complete elimination of symptoms occurs 7 days after the procedure. There is no pain or discomfort during this time.

For all people, including a child, the removed tissue needs to be checked for malignancy. This is necessary so that even a benign neoplasm can turn into a malignant one. In this case, the biological material is subjected to histological analysis.

Before performing electrocoagulation, the specialist carries out diagnostic measures that allow identifying existing contraindications to the use of this technique.

Radiotherapy

Symptoms caused by the virus and its activity in the body can be treated with a method such as radiotherapy. Treatment will help to eliminate both single growths and multiple tumors in the body. The advantages of such therapy include the absence of the risk of postoperative wounds and the elimination of stimulation of nerve endings. This allows the method to be used in any area, including on the face, for example, in the treatment of papilloma in the eyes.

The following contraindications include:

  • pregnancy period;
  • alongside cancer;
  • inflammatory process on the skin in the area requiring therapy;
  • menstruation;
  • any disease occurring in the acute phase.

Before therapy, the area affected by radio waves is treated with an anesthetic drug. This can be a special anesthetic cream, spray or injection with such a tool. The total duration of the session does not exceed 30 minutes. After the direct removal of the growth, a small wound appears in its place, it heals over time, and a thin crust forms in its place. The latter also disappears after a while.

How to get rid of the virus

Treatment of papillomavirus by only getting rid of external manifestations will not be effective, because in the future it will still manifest itself with the appearance of the same symptoms. So, is it possible to treat such a virus and how to do it? To achieve this goal, special drugs are prescribed, used in combination, namely:

  • antiviral in various release forms;
  • immunomodulators.

With the help of antiviral drugs, it is possible to destroy the structure of the human papillomavirus and have a preventive effect on its further spread throughout the body. These can be gels, ointments, tablets, suppositories, solutions for injection. Tablets are considered the most effective. Tablet drugs are often prescribed to help suppress the activity of the virus.

If papillomavirus symptoms appear in the genitals, the use of rectal suppositories is prescribed, which help to eliminate and prevent the inflammatory process in this area and strengthen local immunity. The daily dose of such products is 1-2 suppositories.

Immunomodulators are prescribed to increase the body's resistance to the activity of the virus. These should only be prescribed by a specialist, as they affect a person's immune system.

Treatment at home

As mentioned above, folk remedies are only an addition to the main therapy, but in no case are they the main treatment. You can use the following natural components:

  • egg (raw protein is applied to skin growth several times a day until it starts to fall off by itself);
  • castor oil (lubricate the affected areas with this product several times a day, cover them with a bandage or scarf; the method is used until the growth disappears);
  • laundry soap (the method is used only if papillomas are present on the skin; this type of treatment is not suitable for mucous membranes; rub the growth for 5 days, trying not to violate the integrity of the tissue);
  • celandine (after steaming the skin with a new growth, it is lubricated with an oily cream along with the new growth, and then with plant juice; the procedure is carried out several times a day for a week);
  • garlic (in order not to burn, it is used in the treatment of papillomas in any area except the face and genitals; a clove cut in half is used to lubricate the growth every 5 minutes for half an hour; the procedure is 2 weeks in the morning and in the evening);
  • iodine (iodine is used after lubricating the skin around the growth with a rich cream: using a cotton swab, it is applied to the growth until signs of inflammation appear, after which it begins to fall off on its own);
  • dandelions (using the plant, infuse the heads with cologne and leave to infuse for 2 weeks; after this time, strain the infusion and lubricate the growth until it falls off on its own).

Infection with human papillomavirus can be dangerous to health, especially if treatment is not started in time and completely. Therefore, it is important to consult a doctor at the first warning signs.
